India 2015 |
Derek Laverty, our Provincial is in India for a few weeks to both lead a retreat and visit the SSCC brothers who are living and working there. In his travels he is visiting communities and works in Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, and Calcutta. At this time of writing he is a retreat centre in Araku with the brothers. In his last email Derek writes: "I have done quite a bit of travelling and seen a fair bit of the communities and the works of the Region. Calcutta will be my last port of call before I head back for London. I can’t tell you how often I have likened my time here and the visits to local villages to my time in Mozambique: heat, humidity, rains, mosquitos, projects, distributions, health clinic….. Rush hour is something to be seen - though I hear Calcutta is better (!) and the train system is the mainstay of transport for many people. It has been like a trip down memory lane”.
